Colours!

I'm had a little play around with warmer colours today. And what's warmer than Red and Gold? Inspired by this lovely painting from Herbert James Draper:

Colours!

I'm enjoying this too much!! I was playing around with ideas last night:

Boy: "Lani, it's almost 2 am"
Me: "Just one more!"
Boy: *drags me away from computer*

I love all art by Alphonse Mucha! And the Art Nouveau idea from a wedding theme. Here's a little something put together with light pink, light blue and bronze as a basic idea:

Colours!

I have a new hobby! On the exceptional Style Me Pretty wedding blog I can create my own inspiration boards (yes I know I can technically do them on Photoshop too but that crashes the computers...)

Boy and I have a basic idea of what colours we both like so right now everything is just mix and matching. But yes, this particular colour scheme was already discussed a while back. We both like purple and blue :)

Themes Themes Themes!

One of my favourite things to do is watch movies. Some of my favourites tend to be of the "Old Hollywood" era. Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, To Catch a Thief are just a few. Oh how I love the ethereal lighting, the glamorous dresses, the gloves, the suits, the hats, the diamonds and pearls, the long lashes and dark lipstick.

Who wouldn't want something like the Old Hollywood theme:

Of course, you do need to add colour to your wedding. Or maybe not. What's wrong with a stricking Black and White Wedding? A little bit of lace, parhaps a dash of glass, crystal and/or silver with some beautiful designs. Then maybe a smudge of red as an accent. Stylish, classy, brings out the theme in all its glamour but then also a with a slight modern twist. Love it!

Want a little more colour but wishing to stay true to the black and white theme? Why not bring the red out a little more? Dark Red with Black and White has a stylish feel but is also very dramatic and romantic. Something I'm totally into.

You love the theme but this is all a little much. Fret not. You can keep the theme but adjust the colours to your liking. Remember, everything grey was probably a lighter colour. Why not work with Pearls, Crystal and/or Glass with White and Peach or Pink?

Themes Themes Themes!

We're still on the Marie Antoinette theme (otherwise seen as me finding more and couldn't contain myself to share it!).

Today's find comes from the website Snippet and Ink. This site went more for the white, pale blue and pale pink colour scheme to set the overal mood. If you're into the Marie Antoinette theme but not one to be as bold as to use one of the previous examples I gave, this might be something for you :)

Themes Themes Themes!

Today I felt like looking for some fun themes for a wedding. I just skimmed but I found some rather inspiring sites about this!

Well, I'm not going to bore you all with EVERY theme I came up with... not today. I'll do this in snips and dedictate every posts regarding this to one particular theme.
So my theme for the day is Marie Antoinette weddings:
What usually are assosiated with this theme are pastel colours basically mixed together (however it tends to be primarily pink), gold and over-the-top floral motives.

Plumes of ostrich feathers, shoes, fans, plush baroque chairs, gorgeous ball gowns, flowers, hair (a la Elton John), cake, cake and let them have more cake!

All of these wonderful ideas derive from the website Daliy Wedshare. For more theme inspirations please have a look!
What we missed out somewhat in our last pictures, however, was lace. Spools of jet black lace. The problem with this is that black lace can really deviate to much from the pastel colour scheme. So why not MAKE the lace your theme? A black and white wedding, Antoinette-style:

One of my more latest favourites is the site Parisian Events. It's run by an American lady who lives in Paris. Who knows better than to handle such a theme than someone who can get inspiration from Versaille first hand? The inspiration board above is credited to her site, mainly her blog. Go check it out!

Colours!

Got told off today by Boy because the picture I used for an example for the colour scheme wasn't the "right one". The picture I used before focused more on the Navy and hardly on the Purple at all.

So here is another example of the Navy Blue, Lighter Purple and Silver scheme. It's shows a little more Purple:

This is yet another great example from the website Tastefully Entertaining.

Colours!

Found a new colour scheme that Boy and I really like too. It's a little more dramatic than the purple-aqua scheme but I think it would look gorgeous!

Colours!

We're just skimming over colour wheels right now and yes I'm getting waaaaay ahead of myself.

Our current ideas lean more towards purple (a colour we both really like). Now Boy is not the type of guy who is afraid to use other colours and he tends to be rather open for my suggestions (but will also very quickly say if he COMPLETELY disagrees).

My current favourite is this arrangement of aqua and quite a deep purple:

Not sure about it yet. We're still looking but this one kinda fitted very well with our ideas. Just think about using this with some vintage type of theme perhaps. The link was found on a very useful site: Primadonnabride
